Wm. J. Cassidy Tire Building

The Wm. J. Cassidy Tire Building, located at 344 N. Canal Street in Chicago, was originally constructed in 1902 as a factory and warehouse. Notably, it was the largest building ever moved in 1908 to make way for the Chicago and North Western Terminal. Over the years, it served various purposes, including as the headquarters for Cassidy Tire. Despite efforts to preserve it as a Chicago Landmark, the building was demolished in 2022 to make way for a new apartment tower, 'Cassidy on Canal', which incorporates some of its original bricks into the design. This site reflects Chicago's dynamic architectural history and ongoing urban development.
