Turkey Cafe

The Turkey Cafe, located on Granby Street in Leicester, is a stunning example of British Art Nouveau architecture, built in 1900 and now a Grade II listed building. Its flamboyant facade features three large turkey sculptures and vibrant Royal Doulton tiles, reflecting the exotic style of the era. Originally a popular tea room for women, it served as a gathering place for discussions on women's rights. Over the years, it has undergone various renovations, transforming from a cafe to an optician's office and back to a cafe and cocktail bar in 2014, now known as 1901 – The Turkey Cafe. This historic building not only showcases architectural beauty but also tells a rich story of social change and community significance in Leicester.
