Secretariat Building, New Delhi

The Secretariat Building, located on Raisina Hill in New Delhi, is a significant architectural landmark that houses key offices and ministries of the Government of India, including the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Defence. Designed by British architect Herbert Baker in the Indo-Saracenic Revival style, it features two symmetrical blocks, North Block and South Block, each with around 1,000 rooms and topped with grand domes. The building's construction began in the early 20th century, coinciding with the establishment of New Delhi as the capital of British India. Its unique design incorporates elements of Mughal and Rajasthani architecture, making it a notable example of colonial-era architecture. The Secretariat is flanked by the Rashtrapati Bhavan and is a central part of India's political landscape, symbolizing the nation's governance and history.
