Bartholdi Fountain in Bartholdi Park

The Bartholdi Fountain was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and completed in 1876 as a large cast-iron ornamental fountain with multiple allegorical figures and aquatic motifs. It was originally displayed on the grounds of the U.S. Capitol and later moved to Bartholdi Park adjacent to the U.S. Botanic Garden. The fountain remains an historic example of 19th-century public decorative sculpture in Washington, D.C.
