King's Chapel and Burying Ground

King's Chapel was established as an Anglican congregation in the 17th century and the adjacent King's Chapel Burying Ground dates to 1630, making it Boston's oldest English burying ground. The stone-walled graveyard contains the grave markers of many early colonists and civic leaders from the 17th and 18th centuries. King's Chapel (the current stone church building) was completed in 1754 and stands facing the burying ground on Tremont Street. The site is a documented locus of early Boston civic and religious history.
