Ferry Building clock tower modeled on Seville's Giralda

The San Francisco Ferry Building at 1 Ferry Building was completed in 1898 and its clock tower was explicitly modeled after the Giralda bell tower in Seville, Spain. The tower rises approximately 245 feet above the Embarcadero and has been a prominent visual landmark on the city's waterfront. The Ferry Building historically functioned as a major transportation hub for ferry traffic around the Bay and continues to house markets and offices.
