Post Alley Gum Wall

The Gum Wall is a long section of brick in Post Alley covered in layers of used chewing gum, located beside the Market Theater. The practice of sticking gum there began in the early 1990s by theatergoers waiting in line. The wall was power-washed by the city in November 2015 but accumulated new gum again afterward and remains a noted local oddity. It is frequently mentioned in guidebooks and news coverage as an unusual public attraction.
