Cain House (St. Marys, West Virginia)

The Cain House, built in 1850, is a historic landmark in St. Marys, West Virginia, originally serving as a tavern and lodging for travelers along the Ohio River. It also functioned as a courthouse for Pleasants County shortly after the county's formation. Named after Zachariah Cain, who operated the tavern in the late 19th century, the house later became associated with the Maccabees fraternal order and has housed a Masonic lodge since 1957, making it a site of historical and cultural significance.
