James Monroe Building

The James Monroe Building, located in Downtown Richmond, Virginia, is the tallest building in the city, standing at 137 meters (449 ft) with 29 floors, although only 25 are usable. Completed in 1981, it was once the tallest in Virginia until 2007. Its unique position at the bottom of a hill gives it a similar height appearance to surrounding buildings. The building features a parking garage and is conveniently located near Interstate 95. Plans are underway for the state government to vacate the building, leaving its future uncertain.
