Atlas sculpture (Rockefeller Center)

Atlas is a large bronze statue depicting the mythic Titan bearing a celestial sphere, installed in the courtyard of the International Building at Rockefeller Center. The figure is a prominent, frequently photographed public sculpture that visually anchors the Fifth Avenue side of the complex opposite St. Patrick's Cathedral. The work was installed as part of Rockefeller Center's 1930s ensemble of public art and plaza sculptures and remains a widely recognized Midtown landmark.
