WindEEE Dome

The WindEEE Dome, located at the University of Western Ontario, is the world's first hexagonal vertical wind tunnel designed to simulate extreme wind events like tornadoes and downbursts. With a diameter of 25 meters for the inner dome and 40 meters for the outer dome, it allows for unprecedented wind simulations over complex terrains. The facility features 106 specialized fans that create a variety of wind conditions, making it a unique research hub for studying wind engineering, energy, and environmental impacts. It collaborates with over 40 researchers from 18 Canadian universities and more than 30 international institutes, contributing to advancements in wind energy, construction materials, and risk analysis. The WindEEE Dome is not only a cutting-edge research facility but also a potential attraction for tourists interested in the science of wind and weather.
