Silk Building

The Silk Building, located at 14 East 4th Street in Manhattan's NoHo neighborhood, is a historic structure originally built in 1912 as a silk garment factory. It features 12 floors and 55 luxury condominiums, having been converted into residential units in 1982. The building has housed numerous celebrities, including Keith Richards, Cher, and Britney Spears, and is known for its iconic four-storey penthouse. Designed in the Italian Renaissance style, it retains elements of its industrial past, such as two friezes in the lobby depicting silk production. The Silk Building also gained fame as the home of Tower Records, a popular music destination in the 1980s, attracting a vibrant mix of artists and musicians.
