Edgewood School of Domestic Arts

The Edgewood School of Domestic Arts, located in Iowa Falls, Iowa, is a historic building originally established in 1886 as a school for girls and women, focusing on domestic skills such as sewing and cooking. Completed in 1910, it served over 900 students until its closure in 1935. Following the death of its founder, Mrs. Eva Simplot, the building was transformed into a community center, which continues to host meetings and family gatherings today. With ongoing community support, Edgewood has been modernized while preserving its historical significance, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
