Delmar Calaboose

Delmar Calaboose is a historic one-room jail located in Delmar, Iowa, notable for its limestone and mortar construction. Built in 1878, it served as the town's jail during a time of significant liquor trade issues. The structure, measuring 10 by 12 feet, features a vaulted concrete roof and thick sandstone walls, with narrow window slits and a heavy cast iron door. It is the oldest public building in Delmar and was used well into the twentieth century.
