Chicano Park murals and under-bridge installation

Chicano Park, created after a 1970 community takeover of land beneath the San Diego–Coronado Bridge, contains a large, concentrated collection of murals and sculptural installations painted on the bridge support columns and surrounding structures. The site is widely recognized for its Chicano and Mexican-American public art, community-organized murals, and annual cultural events. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its cultural and historic significance.
