GAR Building (Lykens, Pennsylvania)

The GAR Building is a historic fraternal structure located in Lykens, Pennsylvania, built between 1850 and 1852. This two-story gray limestone building features a distinctive gable roof and ornamental front entry. Originally constructed as a church, it has served various purposes over the years, including a private residence and an armory, before becoming the local chapter's headquarters for the Grand Army of the Republic and its Women's Auxiliary until 1973. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
