Ungdomshuset

Ungdomshuset, or 'the Youth House', is a historic social center in Copenhagen, Denmark, originally established in 1982 at the site of Folkets Hus, a building with roots in the labor movement dating back to 1897. Known for its vibrant underground music scene, it became a focal point for leftist activism and was home to notable performances by artists like Nick Cave and Björk. The venue gained significant media attention due to a contentious eviction in 2007, leading to public demonstrations advocating for its preservation. After a period of conflict, a new Ungdomshuset opened in 2008 at Dortheavej 61, continuing its legacy as a hub for cultural and social activities in the city.
