Designed by Betty Willis and erected in 1959, the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign at the south end of the Strip is an iconic photo spot. Its distinctive retro design makes it a frequent backdrop for tourist selfies and internet image macros. Costumed performers, including Elvis impersonators, commonly pose nearby for paid photos, and those images are often circulated as memes and social-media posts.
