Heidelberg Project - humorous painted signs and messages

The Heidelberg Project is an outdoor art environment created by artist Tyree Guyton beginning in 1986 that covers multiple houses and lots on Heidelberg Street with brightly painted facades, found-object sculptures and hand-lettered signs. Many of the signs on site display ironic, whimsical, or satirical messages addressing urban life, consumerism, and community issues, and they are a documented feature of the installation. The project operates as a public art attraction and has been the subject of media coverage, controversy, and preservation efforts over decades.
