Howard House (Palestine, Texas)

Howard House, built in 1848 by Texas State Supreme Court Justice Reuben A. Reeves, is a historic site in Palestine, Texas. After being owned by local merchant and Confederate officer George R. Howard, the house remained in the family until it was purchased by the city in 1964 to serve as a museum. The house is furnished to reflect a late 19th-century style and is open for tours and special events by appointment. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, making it a significant attraction for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history.
