Samoa House

Samoa House, also known as Maota Samoa, is a significant cultural landmark located at 283 Karangahape Road in Auckland, New Zealand. Opened on December 15, 1978, it was the first Samoan fale built outside of Samoa, funded by local Pacific community members. Initially serving as the Samoan Consulate, it now houses the Samoa House Library, an independent art library and community space. The building has a rich history, having been a refuge for Auckland's Pacific population during times of racial discord. It has hosted numerous cultural events and exhibitions, making it a vibrant hub for the community. Celebrating its 45th anniversary in December 2023, Samoa House continues to play a vital role in preserving Pacific culture and providing resources for the community.
