Akademicheskaya Dacha

Akademicheskaya Dacha, located near Vyshny Volochyok in Tver Province, is the oldest creative base of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation, established in 1884 for impoverished students of the Imperial Academy of Arts. Nestled by the scenic Msta River and Lake Mstino, it became a haven for renowned Russian artists like Ilya Repin and Isaac Levitan, earning the nickname 'Russian Barbizon' for its role in fostering realistic art. After a period as a children's camp post-1917, it resumed its artistic mission in 1948 and continues to be a vibrant center for creativity, featuring modern facilities and a monument to Ilya Repin. The Dacha is celebrated for preserving Russian artistic traditions and remains a significant site for art enthusiasts and researchers alike.
