Shofuso Japanese House and Garden reflecting-pond views

Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, a mid-20th-century Japanese house and garden located in Fairmount Park, uses a reflecting pond, berms, and traditional garden composition to produce carefully framed, low-angle viewpoints across the garden and adjacent parkland. The house (reconstructed and installed in 1958) and its walkways create a contemplative sequence of sights that contrast with more prominent park overlooks. The site is open to visitors seasonally and interpreted by the Japanese House and Garden organization.
