Peter Burr House

The Peter Burr House, constructed between 1751 and 1755, is one of West Virginia's oldest surviving structures, located near Shenandoah Junction. This historic post-and-beam house features a unique architectural style with brick filling and hand-riven clapboards. The property, once owned by Peter Burr II, a cousin of Aaron Burr, spans 9.5 acres and includes a two-story springhouse and a replica barn built by the Jefferson County Historic Landmarks Commission. Visitors can explore the house's distinctive hall-and-parlor layout and learn about its rich history, including Burr's connections to notable figures and his opposition to the Washington family.
