Jydske Asyl

Jydske Asyl, also known as the Asylum of Jutland, is a historic building in Aarhus, Denmark, constructed in 1850 and recognized as a protected site since 1997. Originally established as a psychiatric hospital, it operated until the end of 2018. The site is currently undergoing redevelopment into a new residential area called Bindesbøll Byen, which will feature 1,200 residences designed by Arkitema Architects. The architecture showcases a unique 4-winged rectangular design in yellow brick, reflecting the vision of its original architect, Gottlieb Bindesbøll. The site offers a glimpse into the evolution of psychiatric care in Denmark and the transition of historical buildings into modern living spaces.
