Hillsman House

The Hillsman House, located in Trezevant, Tennessee, was built between 1866 and 1869 for Major John Hinde Hillsman, a Confederate Army officer during the Civil War. The property, originally part of a 3300-acre estate established by his father in 1820, underwent significant changes after the war, with Hillsman focusing on a smaller farm. His son, James Hillsman, became a notable alfalfa producer in the region. The house, showcasing a two-story, three-bay vernacular adaptation of Greek Revival architecture, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982 but was demolished in 2022. A highway marker commemorates its historical significance.
