Lok Bhavan, formerly known as Raj Bhavan, is the official residence of the Governor of Uttar Pradesh, located in the historic city of Lucknow. This two-storied palatial building, constructed over 200 years ago, showcases a unique blend of European and Indian architectural styles, reflecting the influence of Major General Claude Martin. Originally built as Kothi Hayat Baksh, it served as a residence and armory before becoming the Government House for the United Provinces. Surrounded by lush greenery, Lok Bhavan features elegant Gothic-style doors and windows, and its interiors include a beautifully decorated Raj darbar. The estate also boasts landscaped lawns and a dining hall that was once a ballroom, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in colonial architecture and history.
