International Rose Test Garden

The International Rose Test Garden in Washington Park was established in 1917 to preserve rose varieties during World War I and is the oldest continuously operating public rose test garden in the United States. The garden contains thousands of rose bushes across terraced beds and serves as a testing site for new cultivars. It is a documented historic and horticultural landmark in Portland and is closely associated with the city’s identity as the 'City of Roses.'
