Crail Lifeboat Station

Crail Lifeboat Station, established in 1884 by the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), was located at Balcomie Links in Fife, Scotland. This historic station operated for 39 years, primarily serving as a lifeboat rescue point between St Andrews and Anstruther. Notably, the lifeboat Edwin Kay, launched in 1910, played a crucial role in a dramatic rescue of 54 crew members from the HMS Success in 1914. Despite its closure in 1923, the station's legacy remains, with the original boathouse now serving as a greenkeepers store on the Crail Golf Course. The site offers a glimpse into maritime history and the bravery of lifeboat crews in challenging conditions.
