Mission Espada (Mission San Francisco de la Espada)

Mission Espada, reestablished at its current San Antonio location in 1731, is one of the Spanish colonial missions that make up San Antonio Missions National Historical Park and is included in the UNESCO World Heritage listing for the missions. The site preserves an 18th-century acequia (irrigation) system that supplied water to the mission's fields and is interpreted for visitors. The mission chapel has a long history of Catholic worship and continues to be used for occasional religious observances and public programs.
