Clark R. Griggs House

The Clark R. Griggs House, located at 505 W. Main St. in Urbana, Illinois, is a historic Italianate-style home built in 1871 by railroad developer and former mayor Clark Robinson Griggs. Although Griggs never resided in the house, it reflects his significant contributions to the city, including the establishment of the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. Notable architectural features include a cornice with paired brackets, a projecting bay, and a front porch with a balustrade supported by bracketed columns. The house was recognized for its historical importance and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it a point of interest for tourists and researchers alike.
