Thanthu Darbar Hiti

Thanthu Darbar Hiti, also known as Nag Pokhari or Duguhiti, is a historic 17th-century royal bath located in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Built by King Jitamitra Malla, this sunken bath features a stunning golden spout shaped like a makara, adorned with intricate sculptures of water-related creatures. Originally part of the Thanthu Layaku palace, it served as a bathing place for the royal family and a site for worshiping the goddess Taleju. The bath is surrounded by a rectangular basin and a pond, with unique architectural elements including stone snakes and a serpent-shaped wooden pole. Today, it remains a popular tourist attraction, accessible from Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and reflects the rich cultural heritage of the Malla dynasty.
