Belmont Mansion (antebellum house and ceremonial estate)

Belmont Mansion was built in the late 1840s and early 1850s as the city estate of Joseph and Adelicia Acklen and served as a center for formal social rituals of Nashville's antebellum elite. The mansion is preserved as a historic house museum on the campus of Belmont University and offers public tours interpreting domestic life, labor, and social ceremonies of the period. The site is also used today for educational programs and private events, including weddings and receptions.
