Lincoln School (Madison, Wisconsin)

Lincoln School, located at 728 E. Gorham Street in Madison, Wisconsin, is a historic building constructed in 1915 in the Prairie School architectural style by architects Claude and Starck. Originally the site of the Second Ward School, which operated since 1866, the school features a distinctive yellow brick exterior with terra cotta detailing. It served as an educational institution until 1963, after which it became the Madison Art Center until 1980, and was later converted into apartments in 1985. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, making it a notable site for both tourists and researchers interested in architectural history and local heritage.
