Liliesleaf Farm

Liliesleaf Farm, located in northern Johannesburg, South Africa, served as a crucial safe house for African National Congress (ANC) activists during the apartheid era in the 1960s. Notably, it was the site of the Rivonia Trial, where prominent leaders like Nelson Mandela were arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment. After apartheid, the farm was transformed into a museum and national heritage site, showcasing significant artifacts such as Mandela's arrest warrant and the original Freedom Charter. Although it closed in September 2021, it is set to reopen, continuing its legacy as a vital part of South Africa's history and the struggle for liberation.
