Rothe House

Rothe House is a remarkable late 16th-century merchant's townhouse complex located in Kilkenny, Ireland. Built between 1594 and 1610, it features three houses, three courtyards, and a beautifully reconstructed 17th-century garden. As the only surviving example of a complete burgage plot in Ireland, it holds significant historical value, showcasing original post-medieval architecture and artifacts related to Kilkenny's rich heritage. The site, owned by the Kilkenny Archaeological Society, also served as a meeting place for the Gaelic League, where notable figures like Thomas MacDonagh contributed to Irish history.
