Samuel Moore House

The Samuel Moore House, located in the University Heights Historic District of Downtown Madison, Wisconsin, is a notable example of American Craftsman architecture, built in 1912 by local carpenter and architect Charles E. Marks. This historic house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, showcases a blend of traditional craftsmanship and emerging Prairie School design, featuring a symmetrical façade, multi-paned windows, and intricate woodwork. The interior boasts heavy oak features and custom multi-glass paneled doors, reflecting the skilled craftsmanship of local immigrants. Samuel Moore, an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin, resided here for three years before moving to the University of Michigan.
