Park Street Church - debut of 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee'

Park Street Church, founded in 1809 and located on the edge of Boston Common, is a historic evangelical church at the head of the Freedom Trail. On July 4, 1831, Samuel Francis Smith's song 'My Country, 'Tis of Thee' was first sung publicly at Park Street Church. The church has hosted numerous public gatherings and prominent religious figures through the 19th century and remains an active historic congregation.
