Powel House (18th-century Georgian townhouse)

Powel House is an 18th-century Georgian townhouse in Old City built circa 1765 and later owned by Samuel Powel, who served as Philadelphia's last mayor under British rule and first mayor under Pennsylvania governance. The interior preserves high-style Georgian and Federal-period decorative woodwork, plasterwork, and period furnishings representative of elite urban residences of the era. The house is operated as a historic house museum interpreting colonial and early-republic domestic life in Philadelphia.
