The farm has deep historical roots, having been associated with figures like Thomas Jefferson and John A. G. Davis, a law professor who was tragically killed in 1840. During the Civil War, it served as headquarters for Brigadier General George Armstrong Custer. The property, originally part of a 19,000-acre land grant from King George III, has seen various transformations, including a previous house built by Nicholas Lewis, a friend of Jefferson and a Revolutionary War officer.
