Capital Plaza Office Tower (Frankfort, Kentucky)

The Capital Plaza Office Tower was a prominent 338-foot tall skyscraper in Frankfort, Kentucky, completed in 1972 as part of the Capital Plaza Project. Designed by renowned architect Edward Durrell Stone, it served as a hub for state government offices. However, by the early 2000s, the building fell into disrepair, leading to its closure in 2016. After much debate, it was demolished in 2018 to make way for a new office building and park. Today, visitors can explore the newly opened Mayo-Underwood Building, which honors the site's historical significance.
