Joyce Bay Sewage Treatment Facility

The Joyce Bay Sewage Treatment Facility, located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, is a modern wastewater treatment plant that plays a crucial role in the city's sanitation infrastructure. Officially commissioned on March 29, 2019, the facility was built as part of an extensive upgrade to the Port Moresby Sewerage System, with construction beginning in April 2016. It has a significant daily treatment capacity of 18.4 million liters and features a comprehensive network including 13 pumping stations and 26 kilometers of sewerage lines, along with a 1.2-kilometer marine outfall. Funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency and the Papua New Guinea government at a cost of K236 million, this facility not only enhances public health but also reflects international cooperation in infrastructure development.
