Smithsonian service tunnels

Several Smithsonian museums on the National Mall are linked by an underground network of service corridors and utility tunnels used to move artifacts, equipment, and staff between buildings and to house mechanical systems. These tunnels support exhibition logistics and conservation work and are not open to the public. Institutional documentation and reporting describe their role in museum operations.
