Franklin Post Office

The Franklin Post Office, also known as the Old Log Post Office, is a historic building in Franklin, Ohio, built in 1802. It is the oldest surviving post office in the state and the oldest building in the city. Appointed by President Thomas Jefferson in 1805, the first postmaster, John N. C. Schenck, operated the post office from his home. Originally located at 310 River Street, it was relocated in 1974 to its current site near the corner of 5th and River streets, adjacent to the Great Miami River Recreation Trail. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 17, 1976, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
