Buckman Tavern

Buckman Tavern is a historic site in Lexington, Massachusetts, pivotal to the American Revolutionary War, particularly the 1775 Battle of Lexington and Concord. Built around 1709, it served as a gathering place for local militiamen and was the first public house in the area. The tavern played a crucial role on April 19, 1775, when militiamen awaited British troops, leading to the first shot of the war. Today, it operates as a museum showcasing its 18th-century interior, including a restored taproom and historical artifacts, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1961.
