Kubota Garden (Japanese-influenced private-to-public garden)

Kubota Garden is a 20-acre Japanese-influenced garden in the Rainier Beach neighborhood created beginning in 1927 by gardener Fujitaro Kubota and later expanded by his family. The site combines Japanese garden design with Pacific Northwest plantings and includes ponds, streams, stone lanterns, and winding paths. In 2019 Kubota Garden was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is operated as a public garden with free entry hours and volunteer-supported programs.
