Clifton (Clarksville, Maryland)

Clifton, also known as Welling's Stone House, is a historic stone house built in 1818, located between Clarksville and Fulton, Maryland. The house sits on land originally patented in 1702 and has a rich history tied to the transportation of tobacco. Constructed by William Welling, this two-and-a-half-story structure is surrounded by remnants of its agricultural past, although much of the land has been developed. Visitors can explore the historic architecture and the nearby Welling cemetery, which features new gravestone markers, offering a glimpse into the area's heritage.
