Terling Windmill

Terling Windmill, a grade II listed Smock mill located in Terling, Essex, England, was built around 1818 and has a rich history as a former bark and corn mill. Originally painted white, it underwent various modifications, including a tarred smock in 1929 and the addition of new sails in the 1930s. The mill ceased operations in 1949 after a tragic accident in 1950. Now converted into a residential property, it retains much of its original machinery and has been restored to preserve its historical appearance. Standing at approximately 56 feet tall, the mill features an octagonal brick base and impressive sails, making it a notable landmark for tourists and researchers alike. Additionally, it appeared in the 1937 film 'Oh, Mr. Porter!', adding to its cultural significance.
