The Exchange, Bristol

The Exchange is a remarkable Grade I listed building in Bristol, England, constructed between 1741 and 1743 by architect John Wood the Elder. Originally serving as a corn and general trade exchange, it now houses offices and St Nicholas Market. The building features stunning Corinthian columns, intricate carvings, and a unique open court. Notably, it is the only surviving 18th-century exchange building in England, making it a significant historical site. Visitors can explore four bronze tables known as 'nails,' where merchants once conducted business. The Exchange has also hosted famous concerts, including performances by The Rolling Stones and The Who in the 1960s, adding to its cultural significance.
