Providence Telephone Building

The Providence Telephone Building, located at 112 Union Street in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, is a historic commercial structure that served as the headquarters for the Providence Telephone Company from 1893 to 1917. Designed by the architectural firm Stone, Carpenter & Willson, the building originally featured three stories, with two additional stories added in 1906 due to the company's growth. Its striking limestone facade showcases a blend of Ionic and Corinthian columns, along with intricate grotesquework. After the company relocated in 1917, the building transitioned to office space and has since been converted into apartments. Recognized for its historical significance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
